the undersea world of wes anderson
Last week, Zack and I checked out "The Life Aquatic" over at the Parkway. I'm a big fan of his, but his latest venture, sadly, does not compare to Rushmore or the Royal Tenenbaums. I'm not saying it was bad - it certainly wasn't terrible - but it just wasn't as good as it could have been. There really wasn't much of a plot, other then a paen to Jacques Cousteau. Quirky characters, a imaginitive mise-en-scene and a well-edited soundtrack does not a great movie make. Plus, there was no Pagoda/Mr. Littlejeans. I'm not even sure if the movie is "DVD purchase worthy". The sets, however, were fantastic. Who wouldn't want to live aboard the Belafonte?
