terroir in apparel?
Picture this : a designer clothing line that preaches (and practices) fair trade, anti-sweatshop labor and organic farming. On the label: where it was made, who made it and how it's made. Bay Area folks will eat this shit up. The backers are Bono (yes, the Bono) and his wife, along with Rogan Gregory (of the cult denim line). The idea isn't to save the world or anything as grandiose as that (save it for the Nobel Peace Prize and the World Bank presidency), but to give consumers a choice and perhaps influence other labels to do the same.
What can I say? I idolize Bono, I love Rogan jeans (inseam that's long enough!), and who can really argue with the ideals behind the concept? I will have to check out Edun soon.
