Having just returned from another self-indulgent weekend in LA, I have gleaned a few nuggets of wisdom:

Patience is sometimes a waste of time

Dude, Michael Moore kinda rules.

I generally avoid keeping up with current events, because I find them far too upsetting, especially considering how much of a sham the electoral system is. It has become impossible to avoid it any longer, given the current state of world affairs. Jane has written an excellent, well thought out and intelligent piece that pretty much sums up how I feel, yet manages to stay somewhat upbeat. I could not have put it any more eloquently myself.

On a side note, while I'm ashamed to be American, it may be possible for me to be proud to be a Californian.

This morning (yesterday morning, actually), Zack emerged from the bathroom, still damp from his shower, smelling minty fresh.

"I just tried that new soap you bought me." (When I was down in LA, I picked up a bodycoffee bar for him from Fred Segal Apothia, coffee addict that he is.)

"And how'd it work for you, hon?

"Not that great. I don't feel very clean." He rubbed his shoulder, and knit his brows together in a slight scowl. "It's got that 'exfoliating grit' that permeates all those fancy soaps nowadays, but it just leaves me feeling dirty. That pumice stuff is like dirt... it was like rubbing a bar of dirt all over my skin, and now I'm sure I left a bunch of dirt in the shower..."

"Hon," I interrupted. "That 'dirt' is actually coffee beans. It's a bodycoffee bar. It's got coffee extract, and uses ground coffee as a scrub."

"Really!" he brightened considerably. He paused for a moment. "Well, that changes things..."
