Decisions, decisions.

I am the lucky recipient of a Pepsi iTunes free song. And I didn't even have to buy a Pepsi! Now, I'll probably buy the entire Beck album, so should I get the new Daft Punk or Gorillaz single? Maybe I should wait and see if the new Weezer song will come out. Or maybe I should just be all, "fuck it, I'm going with that 'Since U Been Gone' Kelly Clarkson shit."

Distractions.

I am so sick and tired of hearing about this Terri Schiavo woman. Like, why the hell are members of Congress meeting over the weekend to intervene??? Is this where our tax dollars are going? And all this coverage on baseball and steroids - do I really care? Shouldn't they be focusing on, oh I dunno, GETTING THE HELL OUT OF IRAQ??? Seriously. It's been two years now. What. The. Fuck.

Green with envy.

Uh-oh... (while I'm on a fashion bent)

Barneys (Co-Op) has opened a shop in South Coast Plaza! I know exactly which section it's in (in the middle, near Ron Hermann), and I haven't even been there yet (I can predict exactly where the planners will place stores) or looked at the map . I was bred and raised on that mall - any other mall on the West Coast just does not compare. There's a Stila, a Zara, a Jimmy Choo...

Just don't tell me that they opened a cosmetic counter, too.

terroir in apparel?

Picture this : a designer clothing line that preaches (and practices) fair trade, anti-sweatshop labor and organic farming. On the label: where it was made, who made it and how it's made. Bay Area folks will eat this shit up. The backers are Bono (yes, the Bono) and his wife, along with Rogan Gregory (of the cult denim line). The idea isn't to save the world or anything as grandiose as that (save it for the Nobel Peace Prize and the World Bank presidency), but to give consumers a choice and perhaps influence other labels to do the same.

What can I say? I idolize Bono, I love Rogan jeans (inseam that's long enough!), and who can really argue with the ideals behind the concept? I will have to check out Edun soon.

STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

McCartney, it seems, has launched a sportswear line for Addidas. At first, I got all excited, thinking of all the recent success in designer collaborations - Yohji and Addidas, Tara Subkoff and Easy Spirit, Marc Jacobs and Vans. Now I love McCartney's stuff on other folks, and while her pants, especially the ones for Chloe fit great, a good chunk of her pieces just don't fit me right. (something about the shoulders and ribcage). I thought to myself, hmmm, the workout gear may be a little more accessible - think stretchy, spandex fabrics. And hey! She even launched swimwear. But look again. The pieces are highly conceptual, with straps and bands running every which way. As a girl who actually works out in workout clothes, I can just imagine those avant garde straps and bands will become mighty uncomfortable. Think chafing and rashes. Appendages getting entagled in errant loops during a surya namaskar vinyasa sequence. The bathing suit appears to have a noose (!) that runs around the neck. Nevertheless, I'll still check it out. Maybe those straps are detachable. And the sneakers are awfully cute.

the undersea world of wes anderson

Last week, Zack and I checked out "The Life Aquatic" over at the Parkway. I'm a big fan of his, but his latest venture, sadly, does not compare to Rushmore or the Royal Tenenbaums. I'm not saying it was bad - it certainly wasn't terrible - but it just wasn't as good as it could have been. There really wasn't much of a plot, other then a paen to Jacques Cousteau. Quirky characters, a imaginitive mise-en-scene and a well-edited soundtrack does not a great movie make. Plus, there was no Pagoda/Mr. Littlejeans. I'm not even sure if the movie is "DVD purchase worthy". The sets, however, were fantastic. Who wouldn't want to live aboard the Belafonte?

well well well

After that highly publicized presale fiasco in January, it appears that I have acquired a pair of the much desired general admission tickets for the third leg of the Vertigo tour. That old Propaganda membership really did wind up coming through for me in the end. Props (no pun intended) to Larry. Now here's the rub - the concert's at the Staples Center. In LA. Which means that I need to - a. engineer some kind of trade. b. convince someone to go to LA with me and wait in line all day at Staples. c. (it would break my heart to do this) Sell the tickets.

Well, I have until November. Hopefully, someone who doesn't suck will open.

dirty little secret

Should I be ashamed that I sorta like that "Since U Been Gone" song by Kelly Clarkson? I don't even watch reality TV, let alone an episode of American Idol. But I find it catchy, by way of Pink's "Get This Party Started" - don't ask me why - and I'm considering purchasing it on iTunes.

People! Friends of Mine! (again)

Pleeeease keep watching Arrested Development! Even though it's got the Emmys, it's the critics' darling, and oh, yeah, it's hi-friggin'-larious, its chances of renewal are pretty grave. I mean, check out the other network sitcoms out there* - Joey? Committed? King of Queens? (not) Everybody Loves Raymond? Watch Arrested, and you'll see.

*I do love Scrubs and Curb Your Enthusiasm. I have doubts about NBC's adaptation of The Office, but Steve Carell, formerly of the Daily Show, has taken on the mantle of David Brent.
